The numbers of new COVID 19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths have decreased significantly in Northeast Florida. The community risk level is low according to CDC calculations. The level is based on multiple factors including new cases, hospital admissions, deaths, and the health care resources available in the community. The 9/9/22 CDC COVID risk level is medium.  Recommendations include: Wear a mask if you are at high risk for getting very sick (age over 65, chronic medical problems, smokers,etc). Vaccines are approved and recommended  for anyone age 6 months and older.  Booster shots are 90% effective at preventing hospitalization. The risk of COVID infection has increased. Persons coming to UUCJ activities should wear a mask. Unimmunized members of the congregation should consider attending remotely until the risk level has decreased.

The numbers of new COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths have decreased in Northeast Florida and across the nation.  The CDC risk level is now low.  The New Normal Team has reviewed current CDC recommendations and suggests:    1. Vaccination is the best way to reduce the risk of infection, hospitalization, and death.      2. No In-Person Service This Sunday Sunday Service will be broadcast from the chapel.  Members should watch the service from home and not come to the church. The number of daily new COVID 19 cases in the Jacksonville Metropolitan area on 1/27/22 was 216.4 per 100,000.  The number of daily cases has peaked and is decreasing. The positive test rate is still high (34.7%), indicating that there are many unrecognized infections in the community. The risk level for infections in unvaccinated…

The number of daily new COVID 19 cases in the Jacksonville area has increased by 400% over 2 weeks to over 25 / 100,000. These numbers create a very high risk of infection. At the first in-person UUCJ service since March 2020, the New Normal Team recommends the following precautions: All members and guests should be vaccinated. Because of the higher riske of infection with COVID-19 variants, all members and guests must still wear masks when indoors at UUCJ services. New Normal Team Update COVID 19 cases continue to decline in the Jacksonville metropolitan area.
