Contract Minister

Contract Minister

Dear UUCJ Family,

The Board of Directors is excited to announce the selection of Rev. Dr. Paul S. Johnson to serve as our half-time contract minister for the next year.  Rev. Paul has extensive experience as a UU minister and in working with the denomination, and we are so pleased and excited that he will joining us for the next part of our journey!  (Rev. Paul’s short biography is below, and on our website.)

The Ministerial Search Team was tasked by the Board to “search for a minister who will establish with the Board a shared ministry that meets the needs of the UUCJ congregation”, and we believe they have successfully completed that task.  Many thanks to Team members Tessie Bond, Gary Rhodes, Robert Prager , Nancy Murrey-Settle, and Penny Reid for their focused research, dedication and commitment, generous donation of time, and service to our beloved community.

Rev. Paul will begin his ministry with UUCJ on October 1; his first presence in the pulpit will be on October 11.  Needless to say, Rev. Paul’s presence here will be virtual for the time being.  He has expressed a desire to meet in small Zoom gatherings with members of the congregation.  This is an interesting time to begin a ministry – normally we would have a large reception in the Social Hall! Please be watching for an opportunity to participate in one of these  more intimate gatherings.

Per the UUCJ bylaws requiring that the congregation be informed about the terms of his contract, you may find this information below:

Please join us in virtually welcoming Rev. Paul to our UUCJ family!
