To help celebrate the holiday season, Immediately following the morning service on Dec. 17, there will be a gathering around the piano to lift our voices in a read-through of the Halleluljah Chorus. You all sang like the Christmas angels. The many rehearsals and sometimes tough-to-learn music resulted in an excellent program that did us all proud.
SUUSI favorite, David Roth, will be in concert at UUCJ Saturday, January 13 at 7pm. Linda Plummer will sell tickets each Sunday. Advance tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children 17 and under. If you brought pictures in for our All Souls Service back on Oct 29th and would like them back, they are in the front office waiting to be picked up. You may pick them up on Sunday after service, or anytime during office hours, Mon – Thurs 9a-3p (please call first to make sure someone is here).
We are currently at 2,766 pounds. We need only 234 more pounds of food to reach the goal of UUCJ donating 1,000 pounds more food than in 2016. Yes, this is a 50% increase in contributions. It is a privilege to be person that delivers your generosity to the Food Bank.
So an old-fashioned nativity set isn’t relevant to a UU church? You haven’t seen Crệche, a multi-generational pageant that presents the Christmas story in a new light. Come to the December 17th service to see the traditional figurines become renewed symbols of the wisdom and wonder of the season.
