Blood Drive

The “Blood-mobile” will be here from 9am-2pm on Sunday Dec 11th.  This is a vitally important cause that can save lives in times of crisis. If you are able, please take the time to donate that day.

NOTE: The Blood mobile will be parking in the same space in front of the playground fence in the upper parking lot, so please park in the lower parking lot that day to help facilitate easy entrance for this large vehicle.

UU 101

We come to the Unitarian Universalist Church through many paths.  Some come on a whim, others do serious research, check out our website first, or are told by a friend that “you’re a UU” before knowing about the church.  Whether we never belonged to a faith community before or have out-grown our faith roots, we all come to UUCJ to “spread our  wings” and explore new spiritual realms without condemnation.  Most of us are adoptees to the UU tradition and may have limited knowledge of our historical roots as a faith.  UU 101 provides that underpinning- not for us to cling to the past- but for us to understand our past as we build our future.

The UU 101 Course consists of four classes and it is best if you can attend all four.   They will be held on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm in the Social Hall on Jan 10, 17, 24 and 31, 2017.  We will learn about our UU history starting from the earliest heretics in Christianity right up to today: its spiritual and ethical development; where our covenant and principles come from; and our own church in Jacksonville, begun more than 100 years ago with its rich history including an important role in the civil rights movement.  For more information, contact Peter Racine at 904.465.5269 or

IRA Charitable Rollover Gift

If you are 70 1/2 or older, making an IRA Charitable Rollover gift is a great way for you to support UUCJ.

  • An IRA Charitable Rollover gift can be used to meet all or part of an IRA Required Minimum
    Distribution (RMD).
  • You pay no income tax on the gift. The transfer generates neither taxable income nor a tax
deduction, so you benefit even if you do not itemize your taxes.
  • The IRA rollover allows donors who are 70½ or older to transfer up to $100,000 directly from
their IRA to charity each year.

Contact your IRA plan administrator to make a gift from your IRA; specify that you want to
make an IRA Charitable Rollover.
