No In-Person Service This Sunday
Sunday Service will be broadcast from the chapel. Members should watch the service from home and not come to the church.
The number of daily new COVID 19 cases in the Jacksonville Metropolitan area on 1/27/22 was 216.4 per 100,000. The number of daily cases has peaked and is decreasing. The positive test rate is still high (34.7%), indicating that there are many unrecognized infections in the community. The risk level for infections in unvaccinated persons is still severe.
The Omicron variant is much more contagious than previous strains. Although infections with the Omicron variant are less severe than other variants, unvaccinated persons still have a higher rate of serious infection, hospitalization, and death.
The best protection against COVID-19 infection is still vaccination and over 2/3 have received at least one vaccination dose. Masks are still recommended. Avoiding closed spaces, crowded situations and close contact does limit the risk of infection.
The New Normal Team recommends that in-person services and other activities be discontinued until the number of new daily cases has decreased to less than 10 /100,000. These recommendations are based on the risk to vaccinated and unvaccinated persons but also considers the members of the congregation with high-risk medical conditions.
Again, Sunday Service will be broadcast from the chapel. Members should watch the service from home and not come to the church.
