Special Collections Follow-Up

Special Collections: UUCJ has once again successfully sponsored a READ USA book fair for the students at Arlington Heights Elementary School. Our May Special Collection for READ USA totaled $1770. Thank you again for your generous support of this wonderful organization that is improving literacy for students throughout Duval County.

Arlington Community Services Update

3603 Delivered to ACS, Passing our 2021 Goal, Moving to Deliver Twice Our Goal! UUCJ members, friends, and the Arlington Community Garden have delivered 3603 pounds of groceries to ACS.  Arlington Community Garden donated 239 pounds of produce and eggs to ACS in May 2021.  Keep it up. Current needs are pop-top pork & beans, pop-top pasta, canned tomatoes, clean T-shirts, and small toiletries for our homeless. From the Minister

I’m in the midst of an annual June ritual I have missed only once since 1975–Ministry Days of the Unitarian Universalist Ministers Association followed by the General Assembly of the Unitarian Universalist Association where delegates from congregations meet for business, inspiration, celebration, and a general renewal of ties. I readily admit to being a “GA Junkie” who thoroughly enjoys the plenary business sessions (more than 12 hours this year), the ceremonial elements such as the Opening Celebration and the Service…

President’s Message

Two weeks ago, the Board approved the Ministerial Agreement that was sent to all members. We are truly fortunate to be reopening in September with Rev. Lee Ann Washington as our minister. She brings the experience and enthusiasm that we need to reestablish in-person services in the fall. The first service is just 3 months away. There are programs throughout the summer. Small groups are meeting safely in person at the church and in member homes. Sunday services will continue…

Caring Candles

Joe Adiutori was admitted to Mayo through the ER on June 16, 2021. He had surgery for a bowel obstruction and he was discharged home on June 19, 2021 in time for Father’s Day. Please send him healing energy. Leisla Sansom’s friend, Dick, is scheduled to come home from Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital on July 23, 2021. He will continue to receive therapy from Brooks at home. Leisla appreciates the help and concern of her UUCJ friends.

Arlington Community Services Update

Yes, we are 95 pounds from our 2021 Goal! Thanks for your generosity.  The UUCJ Teamsters delivered 53 lbs. of groceries on Monday. Message from Mary Louise Weber, Executive Director of Arlington Community Services, which includes a list of needs: Thank you for the bountiful donations of food, masks, blankets, and monetary gifts you have given in April.
