Opportunities from Our Outreach Committees

It’s an exciting time at UUCJ as we get ready to return to in-person services. Happily, our outreach has not slowed during “the Zoom months”. If you are looking for ways to be involved, here are just a few of the UUCJ opportunities that you can consider:

ICARE

We had a great turnout at the Community Problems Assembly this month – 24 of us!  But we are reminded that there is still much work to do. Remember, a significant level of participation is part of ICARE’s strength. Any questions about ICARE can be directed to Lois Hoeft at

Special Collections

UUCJ collected $1180 for the Northside Coalition of Jacksonville in October.  We also had enough contributions for Family Promise to send seven $70 gift cards to provide meals for the 3 families housed by Family Promise (which included 8 children).  They were very grateful to UUCJ for our generosity.  For questions about any of our Special Collections, contact Meg Rohal at .

Arlington Community Services

ACS is so appreciative of our gifts of food, monetary donations, and socks. So many families need financial help, homelessness is increasing and there is great need during the holidays. Any questions can be directed to Carlos Fraticelli at

UU Service Committee

UUSC is having its annual Guest at Your Table fundraising drive. Did you know UUSC has the highest possible fundraising score on Charity Navigator? You can easily donate on the UUCJ website – there is now a drop-down box for UUSC on our giving page. Contact Cyd Reider at for any questions (or if you want to buy fair-trade chocolate!)

Northside Coalition of Jacksonville

NCOJ’s Ben Frazier was the Special Collections speaker in October and gave a very impressive presentation. They are an active group and can always use help. They are planning a door-to-door voter registration as follows:

  • November 20, 2021 – 9:00 am -12:00 pm
  • December 4, 2021 – 9:00 am -12:00 pm

If you are interested in participating, contact Mike Ludwick at .
