Qualified Charitable Deductions

Are you at least 70 ½? Did you know that you might be eligible to make your charitable contribution to UUCJ tax free, even if you don’t itemize deductions? IRS has a program called “Qualified Charitable Deductions” (QCD) that does just that. The QCD is an option that allows you, starting at age 70½, to instruct your IRAadministrator to direct IRA distributions to a qualified charity. Because your IRA distribution goes directly to UUCJ, you do not report it as taxable income and do not owe any taxes on the QCD amount. And you would have the added satisfaction of knowing that UUCJ receives the full amount, with no tax cost to you or to the church. Contact your IRA Administrator for details on how to make your QCD.
