Every morning at 4 a.m. “First Light Meditation” hits my e-mail inbox from Rev. Dr. Galen Guengerich, senior minister of the Unitarian Church of All Souls in New York City. Cee Cee is familiar to many of us, as she has presented many wonderful musical events with her husband, Ken Connors, through the years at UUCJ. She also has a rich history of activism, working with the ACLU in Pittsburgh as Assistant Director and Volunteer manager, and in Jacksonville helped reorganize the ACLU as a Board member and president. Arlington Community Services update

Be as Generous as You Can – Thanks for Helping Our Neighbors in Arlington The UUCJ Teamsters delivered 67 lbs. on Monday, and Cyd Reider gave 36 lbs. of groceries for 103 lbs. so far this week. UUCJ Birthdays

You still have time to get a card in the mail for Sam Klein’s birthday on Saturday, 6/5. Next week, we celebrate the birthday of Mary Lou Krosnick on Friday, 6/11. Mary Lou has had a rough year, having lost her husband Aaron to an accidental fall earlier this year, so please reach out to her by phone or mail.

Caring Candles

Lynne Walling, daughter of Stuart Walling and step-daughter of Donna Janesky, died last week at the age of 62, from colon cancer. She was a brilliant Phd Number Theorist who taught at the University of Bristol, England, and lectured all over the world. She was loved by many, as evidenced by the friends and neighbors who lovingly cared for her in her final days. Stuart is grateful he got to spend her final week with her.

UUCJ Last Chance Auction – One Week Only, Ends Sunday June 6, 10pm

Many, many thanks to the Donors, Bidders and Volunteers who wholeheartedly supported our UUCJ Spirit of Life Service Auction; because of you this totally online event was a smashing success!  The Fundraising Team has felt great joy in working with you, the members, on this Service Auction Journey and look forward to future, and even better collaborations. Arlington Community Services Update

GREAT! You, UUCJ Members and Friends, will make our goal of 3,500 lbs. Keep it up because we are on pace to exceed 7,500 lbs. ACS reported that we donated 462 lbs. Our partner, Arlington Community Garden, donated 91 lbs. in May. Note from Mary Louise Weber, ACS Executive Director: Thank you for your abundant support and prayers. We fed 141 folks and helped 17 with rent/JEA in May. We continue to be blessed to serve our neighbors! Current needs…
