How does an accidental UU, who was an accidental Catholic, end up going on pilgrimage to Transylvania to visit our partner church in Bozod? Carlos Fratecelli will answer this question on Sunday. He will go on to discuss how this pilgrimage was part of his UU journey. However, the trip will not be the main story. The story will be about how adopting a Partner Church became a small group ministry for some UUCJ members. As with all small group ministries, they want to share their mission and come to their congregations for financial support.
One of our Partner Church effort’s high points was having Rev. Levente Fazakas and his wife Angela visit UUCJ in November 2018. The fundraising efforts in the past included the Hungarian Dinners sponsored by Donna Janesky and Marta Zsemberovszky. Marta moved to Bozod and facilitated our partner church efforts. Because we cannot do fundraisers at UUCJ or pull off a Hungarian Dinner, we are making a direct fundraising appeal. We want to raise $2,000 for Bozod Unitarian Church to support their efforts to repair their Church. We have a head start on that goal. One donor will be making a challenge gift of $500. We urge everyone who went on a pilgrimage to Bozod to remember and honor that congregation with a special gift. We have responded to past appeals to foster the relationship with Bozod Unitarian Church by supporting their ministry. Let us continue our generosity.
