For the past three years, through  generous donations of our members, UUCJ has held a special collection to provide a book fair for the students at Arlington Heights Elementary School. This year, despite the school shut down due to the pandemic, READ USA will provide a virtual shopping experience facilitated by their teachers so that students may choose 3 free brand new books. The books will be mailed directly to their home along with parent engagement activities.

Our special collection on May 10 will be for our continued sponsorship of a READ USA book fair for Arlington Heights. An anonymous donor has offered to match all UUCJ donations dollar for dollar!  Donations must be made through UUCJ in order to get the match. Please go to UUCJ.org/give and use the drop down menu and make your donation to special collections. You may also mail a check to the church made out to UUCJ with Special collection in the memo line:

This is a challenging time for all of us however  sponsoring a book fair for the children in our Arlington neighborhood has been a point of pride for our congregation.  Can you imagine the smiles of excitement when a child receives their new books in the mail?
