2021 Board

On December 13, 2020 you elected three new UUCJ members to serve on your Board of Directors: Munsell McPhillips, Teri Mitchell, and Nancy Murrey-Settle. Caring Candles

Michael Aiken.  Martha Aiken has advised that Michael is still in Critical Care at Memorial Hospital, and he is off the ventilator. Visitors are not allowed and Martha can only see him at a distance.  However, she has spoken with him via the nurses’ telephone.  She thanks everyone for their well wishes. Eunice Rupel.  Marsha Collins’ aunt, Eunice Rupel, passed away on December 23, 2020 due to Covid-19 and pneumonia at age 92. She was living in Southern California.  Condolences…

Arlington Community Services Update

Thanks for Your Generosity, Have a Happy New Year and Keep up the Good Work! UUCJ/ACS Teamsters and its core donors want to thank everyone who has made donations via direct food contributions, cash donations, or by contributing to our annual Special Collection for supporting our neighbors through the Arlington Community Services.  Our congregation donated 4229 pounds as of this Monday.  These donations exceed our 2020 Goal of 3200 lbs. by 1029 pounds.  A special thanks to Arlington Community Garden…

Caring Candles

Eugene Duncan, 86, died on December 18, 2020 at his home.  Eleanor and their son, Todd, were with him.  Gene and Eleanor joined UUCJ in April, 2008. Gene was employed for many years with the city of New York before retiring to Jacksonville.  Condolences go out to Eleanor and her family.  Due to the pandemic, a Memorial Service will be planned for a future date. Leisla Sansom was recently admitted to Memorial Hospital with a fractured sacrum.  She was then transferred on December 17, 2020…

Arlington Community Services Update

Thank you for your wonderful giving spirit this December. We have received abundant food, gift cards, toys, and handmade blankets, scarves, and hats. Your generosity has helped us bless many of our neighbors in need. We will be open Monday-Wednesday for the holiday weeks to come. From the Minister

The last report I received from Virginia, our administrator, put the total of  pledges for the coming year at about $189,000, which leaves us $11,000 below the amount necessary to receive a challenge grant of $41,000 from a generous anonymous donor. If we don’t make this goal by December 31, the finance committee and board will have to significantly reduce the budget for 2021 which we approved at the December 13 congregational meeting.
